Back this week for the second square/coaster I shall be gifting at my wedding. This one is based off a Popcorn Stitch Flower.
Materials:
Yarn of choice, I am using Lionbrand 24/7 Cotton
4mm hook or hook to go with your yarn
darning needle
Scissors
Special Stitch:
Simpler Popcorn Stitch – Make a group of 3 dc crochet, Pull the loop of the last dc, remove hook from loop. Insert hook into first dc of the group and pull the loop from the third dc through. Chain 1 to complete the stitch

1.Make a magic loop
2. Chain 3, Make 5 simple popcorn stitches into the ring, after making the last ch 1, join with a slip stitch to form a ring. Slip stitch into the first ch 1 space,
3.Ch 3 Into each ch 1 space make 2 simple popcorn stitches, separate each set of popcorn stitches with a chain 2. Join with a slip stitch to the top of the popcorn stitch, slip stitch to the first ch 1 space.
10 popcorn stitches total.
4. Ch 3 *1 dc into the top of the popcorn stitch, 1dc in the ch 1, 1 dc on top of popcorn, 3 dc into the chain 2 space. 1 dc on top of the next 2 popcorns, 3 dc in the ch 2 space.* Repeat from * to * once more. 1dc on top of popcorn, 1 dc in ch 1, dc on top of popcorn, 2 dc in the chain 2 space and slip stitch to the top of the chain 3. 28 dc around

5. Ch 3, 1 dc into each of the next 5 dc, 2 dc, ch1, 2dc into the next dc ( we have just made a corner). *1 dc into each of the next 6 dc, 2dc, ch1 2dc into the next dc* Repeat from * to * twice more. join with a slip stitch to the top of the chain 3. Fasten off.
