Inspiration & Design

Time, it’s often on our minds isn’t it. How to be more productive, do I have the time for xyz, will this product last the test of time. Time was precisely what I had in mind when I set out to design Vest Number 2. I wanted to design a vest/tank top that would give off timeless vibes, like a little black dress or a white shirt.

Technically, this pattern is vest number 3, but I counted wrong. Vest 1 is the summer breeze tank and vest 2 is the Yavanna Vest.

The Yarn

If you know me, you know I don’t like crocheting in either one of those colors, so the Timeless theme had to also apply to the yarn.

While the color I chose to design with is not timeless, the yarn blend is, or at least I think it is. Yarn Art Jeans a sport weight 45/55 Acrylic/cotton blend. Not only is it sport weight but it comes in a variety of colors and it’s easily accessible through amazon. For sample size 2 I purchased a 4 pack of color 29 and used every last bit of it.

Yarn Art Jeans is the perfect yarn for summer, light enough for garments but also machine washable. Put your garment in a delicate bag and you are good to go.

Construction of Vest Number 2

Not only did I want the vest to be timeless, I also wanted it to use simple stitches. You already know that for me it’s the ex-sc stitch. Something about this stitch just has my heart. A simple stitch choice means a fun construction, right?

The Vest is constructed top down. We start from the top of the back panel then we crochet our way to the front and join under the armhole to continue working in the round. This vest contains no waist shaping.

After we crochet the main vest parts, we will crochet ribbing around the bottom, neckline and arms.

Can I make this?

If there is a will there’s a way. However, here are some things to consider before you dive in.
