We continue our granny no5 top with sleeve separation and body. As we’ve completed all the increases it is time to potato chip crochet.

Granny No 5 top sleeve separation and body

No, seriously. After separating for the sleeves we can netflix and crochet without any worries.

Have never heard of the Granny No5 top – Introduction here

Part 1 – neckline

Part 2- Yoke

As the name of this post suggests we will be separating our yoke into sleeve, and a body. By the end of these instructions we will be continuing with the sleeves and the body separately.

In the yoke portion of our granny No5 we left off at a V stitch round. We start our sleeve separation with a Granny st round.

If you would rather purchase a pdf version of the full written pattern

TRY ON THE TOP, make sure you like the fit before continuing to the body section. If you feel you need more sts at the underarm add more ch’s under the arm. Note that adding more ch’s will also increase your stitch count for the body and the sleeves.

YES, you will have more stitches at the front of the sweater than at the back.

optional- switch to a 3mm crochet hook to bring the garment in a little bit for the waist.

Rnd 5: Sl st to the first ch1 space, stacked sc in this space, V st in each ch 1 space until you reach the lone dc from the beg of the rnd, work dc in this space, close the rnd with a sc to the first dc.

Repeat rounds 2 – 5 until you reach 8” measured from the underarm (18 rounds)  or your desired length.

Notes

  •  Remember that from rnd 5 on we work with the 3mm crochet hook. This reduces the width (refer to the gauge swatch)
  • Try on the garment, if you prefer a looser/boxier fit don’t switch to the 3mm hook.
  • If you wish to incorporate the other colors into the body: 3 rounds before you finish the top, work 1 rnd in Color 3, then color 2, and finally color 1.

That is it for the sleeve separation and body portion of our top, next week we will complete our top by completing our sleeves and the neckline.
