Discover the new neutral, light airy textures, and let these stunning patterns inspire your Autumn Trend 2025 . Your go-to guide to cozy up with handmade

I’ll be the first to say, “handmade pieces take a long time to create”. Which leads to the question “why follow trends if the piece you make may not be in anymore?”. I hear you, but let me also say that whatever you enjoy making/wearing will always be on “trend” for you. However, I do think it can be quite fun and inspiring to see what is out there, especially because some of these “trends” are features we are already incorporating into our wardrobes, we just have to see them in a different light.
Without further ado let’s get into some of these eye catching Autumn 2025 trends,
Lace Details

Speaking of “features” we are already working on, the red carpet shows quite a bit of lace details and trims. If you ask me, crochet shines very very brightly here. Whenever I think of lace trim I always think it’s worth checking out the Filigree collection from Marie Wallin. While this book may be hard to track down, ( it’s from 2015) it does have some beautiful patterns that have been on my to-do list almost as long as the book was published.

If you are looking for only a lil bit of lace detail, I think the Cande pullover from Nomad stitches would be a great choice. I Truly love the little bit of lace at the yoke. In addition to the interesting peekabo lace, the short rows at the back will make this a very comfortable sweater to wear.

Also, in the smidge of lace category, I would like to submit my own Las Nubes Top, this is a fan favorite design that I think would be easy to modify for long sleeves or even make wider for a more contemporary fit.
Light and Airy
The light and airy summer textures continue, but let’s make them more autumnal by using a wool blend yarn or a mohair lace. You could even pair your favorite summer lacey top with a warm long sleeve shirt and you are good to go.

Speaking of transitional pieces to go from summer nights to autumn days, the My precious Sweater by Katerina Designs is a top contender. The fit of this piece really lends itself to layering comfortably for those cooler nights ahead.

By now you probably know that I will be substituting all mohair for suri alpaca when the budget allows. I know, I haven’t gotten around to doing it for the Flower Garden Vest, but it will happen, eventually. The Flower Garden vest offers a classic fit that is easily customizable to fit your body shape.

This Fleur sweater has me * * , no joke. There is something about the stitch paired with mohair that just screams light and cozy to me. This sweater does a wonderful job at combining texture, and drape in a way that feels both ethereal and timeless.

If you, like me, happen to only experience autumnal weather inside of your house, then the Abuela shirt might do the trick. First of all, absolutely love the name and secondly, love the possibilities to fully make this garment our own. It takes the granny stitch up a notch with delicate shell edging and button details.
When speaking of light airy textures we of course had to include a Knit pattern by Lily Kate France. There are so many eye-catching features on the Checker Plate Tee that I really don’t even know where to begin talking about it.

Texture

The texture in this Cherry Blossom sweater by Lela Arapi is glorious. I can’t help but wanting to make the raised stitches really pop by using a contrasting color.
While this gorgeous texture may not be red carpet Autumnal Trend recommended, it’s a stunning piece that I don’t mind giving attention too.
Color
The IT color for this fall is brown, and I’m so excited about the many shades and tones to choose from. I myself prefer a warm, spicy, caramel brown like Toffee or Brown Sugar from the We crochet Palette range
Another eye catching brown is Nut Brown – from Knitting for Olive – Circle of Stitches
For earth tones I also like to browse Expression fiber arts website. Her colors and bases are so luscious, especially her cream sock base which is 70/20 Wool and Silk.
Of course, we can play with color combinations as well. I always feel that brown has a very Medieval revival or 70’s disco vibe. We can be bold and combine brown with teal, or peach, or take inspiration from the very nature around us.

Make it your own
Never feel that you have to chuck out all your clothes due to changing trends, or seasons. All these different textures can serve as inspiration to view our favorite handmade pieces through a different styling lens. Never forget that with layering, your favorite pieces don’t have to go into hiding when colder weather comes along.
Also, maybe, consider this your invitation to really look at your wardrobe and see what pieces you’ve made that still put a shine in your eye, a pep in your step. After all, the handmade goal is to create pieces that move with us through many a season.
Before we leave our Autumn crochet trend report 2025 behind, I wanted to leave you with one last beautiful piece that can take your summery makes all the way to winter depending on where you live and that is

Solwind Cowl by Deanne Ramsay, A gorgeous layering piece with stunning texture that is really making me want to get some dk weight yarn out and hook a cozy capelet cowl for myself. Seriously, capes should definitely make a come back.
Which of these trends or patterns did you find inspiring? Do you have a handmade piece that you constantly reach for?
