In this Granny Crew sweater part 3 we are going to be working on the sleeve.

Let’s recap:

And now we get to work on the last big part of our sweater, the sleeve.

Granny Crew Sweater Part 3 : Sleeves

The sleeves for this sweater are quite straight forward, we pick up stitches at the bottom of the armhole and work in the round until we get to the length that we want.

Don’t worry we will go into a little bit more detail now.

Let’s start our granny crew sweater part 3

With your 4.5mm crochet hook and the contrasting color, attach yarn to the bottom of the armhole right between the 3 dc’s that make up our bottom granny st.

Make a sc in this space, ch1, make a sc in the ch2 space from our granny inc, ch2. Now we can begin our repeat for the round [sc between granny sts, ch2] until you reach the ch2 from the granny inc. Then work a sc in the ch2 from the granny inc, ch1, sl st to the first st to close the round, attach your Mc yarn

At the end of the round we have

Round 2

Stacked sc in the first st, dc in the ch1 space, granny st in each ch2 space until you reach the next ch1 space, dc in the ch1 space, sl st to the first dc to close the round. Sl st to the next st and pick up CC

Round 3

[sc between the granny sts, ch2] repeat until you reach the beg of the round, sl st to the first sc to join, pick up MC

Round 4

In the ch2 space behind the sc we just sl st into, work a stacked sc, then continue working granny st in each ch2 space until you have one ch 2 space left over.  In this last ch2 space, dc, dc2dec over this ch space and the beg ch space, sl st to the first st to join the round, pick up your contrasting color.

NOTE: Because I want this sweater to have a wide sleeve, this is the only decrease that we will work when crocheting the sleeve. If you prefer a narrow sleeve, then try on the garment and work decreases in the granny st rounds until you are happy with the sleeve.

Round 5

(CC) [sc between the granny sts, ch2] repeat until you reach the beg of the round, sl st to the first sc to join, pick up MC

Round 6

(MC) In the ch2 space behind the sc we just sl st into, work a stacked sc, then continue working granny st in each ch2 space until you reach the beg ch space, work 2dc in this beg space to complete a granny st, sl st to the first st, pick up contrasting color.

Repeat rounds 5 and 6 until you reach the desired sleeve length. For the 12” mentioned in the pattern, work 36 rounds.

Repeat all these instructions to complete the remaining sleeve.

If you prefer to have some sort of sleeve finish, I will have a video up on the youtube channel soon
