Learn to crochet the broken rib stitch with this free tutorial. The broken rib stitch was inspired by playing around with the billows stitch and just like the Billows stitch it creates a broken rib texture.
If you have made the billows stitch before, this stitch will be easy to crochet. The difference between the broken rib stitch and the Billows stitch is that you crochet 2 tr and then a dc. My mind is just full of ideas, baskets, blankets, purses, and so much more.
Broken Rib Stitch Crochet Tutorial
Materials:
Yarn of your choice – I used Bernat chunky Yarn
Hook for your yarn – I used a 8mm hook
Notes:
The stitch is created over a 4 pattern repeat.
Ch in multiples of 2 +1
The tutorial is written in US terminology.
Ch 3 counts as a dc
Stitches used:
Ch – chain
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
fptr – front post treble

To Begin :
Ch 13, 1dc in the 4th chain from the hook, 1 dc in each ch. Ch1 and turn. //Hacemos 13 ca, 1 pa en la 4ta ca del ganchillo, 1 pa en cada ca. 1ca y volteamos.
Row 1: sc in the first stitch, sc in each stitch across. Ch 3 and turn. // 1 pa en el primer punto, 1 pa en cada punto hasta completar la fila. 3ca y volteamos.
Row 2: *1 fptr in the next 2 dc from the base row, dc in the next sc* (from row 1). Repeat from * to * across the row. Ch1 and turn // *1 ptr frontal en los proximos 2 puntos de la fila base, 1 pa en el proximos pb.* repetimos de *a* hasta completar la fila.
Row 3: repeat row 1. Ch3 and turn. // Repetimos la primera fila. 3 ca y volteamos.
