The embroidered christmas ornament is a quick easy project to make. Keep it for your tree or give it away!

Design Inspiration

Christmas 2020. While 2020 has been a dumpster fire year, we are trying to make the most of it. Since we will not be traveling home this year, pandemic, I am very determined on making this a very merry and crafty month.

Last week I posted a quick warm blanket (manta navideña) and this week I have an even quicker project for you.

I wanted to create a simple ornament for all craft levels. Not only do I have pictures but I even posted a reel for this project. Yes, I’m a master organizer :D.

Este proyecto es super sencillo y apto para cualquier persona. Es facil de hacer y perfecto para regalar. Aunque el crochet no juega en este diseño, es posible decorar el bastidor o aro con puntos bajos. Video de 15 segundos en instagram reel.

While crochet is not a feature, it can be added to decorate the embroidery hoop.

Materials:

Fabric (2 pieces) a 5×5 square and a round piece to cover the back. // 2 pedazos de tela una de 5×5 pulgadas y un pedazo redondo para tapar la rueda.

3″ embroidery hoop// aro de bordar o bastidor

embroidery floss in green, brown and gold // hilo de bordar de varios colores.

needle // aguja de bordar

scissors // tijeras

round cut out for backing// pedazo de carton para tapar la parte de atras.

Optional :

• ribbon// cinta de medir.
• paper //papel
• pencil// lapiz
• sewing pen to trace// tiza de costura para marcar la figura a trazar.
• tacky glue // pega o cola tacky

Let’s start the embroidered christmas ornament // Empezamos

First, we trace the Christmas tree design onto the fabric. Once traced we will place the design and close our hoop. // Primero, trazamos el diseño a la tela. Una vez trazado, cerramos el aro de bordar.

Then, thread your needle with 3 strands of embroidery floss and make back stitches tracing the design. Change your yarn for the trunk, and star. // Luego, enebramos con 3 hebras y hacemos pespuntes trazando el diseño. Cambiaremos de color verde a marrón para el tronco del árbol y amarillo para la estrella.

Once the tree is complete, you can either use the back stitch to make the star or make a flower like I did. // Una vez completemos el árbol podemoz trazar la estrella con el mismo punto o hacer una flor.

After the embroidery is complete, thread a needle and using a running stitch gather the back of the fabric. // Cuando hayamos completado el bordaje, enebramos la aguja y usamos un punto corredizo para fruncir la parte de átras de la tela.

Finishing // Terminaciones

Once your fabric has been gathered, place your embroidery hoop on a cardboard, trace and cut. // Una vez hallamos fruncido la tela, trazamos el aro a un pedazo de carton y cortamos.

Don’t forget to cut your second piece of fabric 1/4 to 1/2 bigger than your cardboard cut out. // No olviden de cortar su segundo pedazo de tela 1/4 a 1/2 pulgada más grande que el pedazo de carton.

Then, glue the fabric to the cardboard and the cardboard to the embroidery hoop. // Luego, pegamos la tela al carton y el carton al aro.

Lastly, we use our ribbon to cover the metal part with a bow. // Por último, cogemos cinta para decorar el cierre del aro.
